About
Austria's signature grape from its top region — the standard for Grüner Veltliner. White pepper, citrus, that distinctive cool-climate acid line.
Domäne Wachau is a growers' cooperative, and its members farm about 440 hectares between them. That is close to a third of all the vines in the Wachau. The plots sit on stone-walled terraces above the Danube, part of a UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
Grüner Veltliner rules here, making up over half the co-op's plantings. Wine growing on these slopes has a long paper trail too. Records of the vineyards reach back to 1137.
Schnitzel is the homeland pairing. It also cuts through ginger, soy and anything fried, which is why we point it at Asian food.
Producer note
Domäne Wachau is a quality-focused growers' co-op and one of the most consistent producers in Austria's top white wine region.
