About
Alsace Pinot Gris has weight and aroma you don't get from Italian Grigio — pear, smoke, ginger. The way the grape was meant to be made.
Vignoble des 2 Lunes farms about 15 hectares at Wettolsheim in Alsace, on land the Buecher family has worked for seven generations. The estate is certified biodynamic by Demeter. The family cut out synthetic sprays in 1997, a decade before the certificate made it official.
The cellar work stays out of the way. Ferments run on native yeasts with nothing added, and a small dose of sulphur at bottling is the only input. The richness in your glass comes from the vineyard, not from tricks.
Serve it cool rather than cold so the spice and texture can show. It has the weight for roast pork, and enough freshness for smoked fish or a soft cheese.
