About
A powerful Shiraz from Rusden's old vines on the deep Vine Vale sand in the eastern Barossa Ranges, made with a minimalist, Old World approach to a fruit-driven New World variety. The 2023 shows violets and cherry compote with spice and vanilla bean on the nose, moving into dark cherry fruit, mocha and baking spice, rounded out by firm, chewy tannins — a powerful rendition of Vine Vale Shiraz with depth reminiscent of the producer's 2020 vintage.
Producer note
The Rusden Vineyard sits on deep Vine Vale sand in the foothills below the eastern Barossa Ranges, land the early pioneers carved from cypress, blue gum and wattle woodland once known as Bethany Sandscrub. The old vines are traditionally hand-tended to ensure their longevity for future generations, with a minimalist approach to winemaking that aims for an honest representation of the variety.
