About

Battle of Bosworth's flagship, made by cordon-cutting the vines so the certified-organic Shiraz dries and concentrates on the vine for ten to twelve days before picking — the Amarone trick, transplanted to McLaren Vale. The result is dense and hedonistic: black fruits, dark chocolate and licorice with leathery notes and a hint of black olive, matured in big old oak so the fruit stays in front. Full-bodied, plush and powerful, with generous tannins and a long finish built for cool nights and hearty food.

Producer note

The 2024 White Boar took the Trophy for Best Organic Shiraz and a Gold medal at the 2025 Great Australian Shiraz Challenge, placing second of 188 Shiraz entries.

100% estate-grown Shiraz off McLaren Vale vines averaging 50 years old, fermented in open tanks, hand plunged and matured in French oak hogsheads. The nose is deep and savoury — blackberry, violet, black tea, dried sage and an earthy ferrous edge — while the full-bodied palate runs pepper, cherry, blackberry, plum and cacao over lush tannins and balanced acidity. The cooler 2023 season keeps it graceful rather than heavy, and it will repay a few years in the cellar.

The palate is full-bodied, dense and rich, layered with dark fruits before a soft finish on pure, fine tannins — power and elegance in the same glass, with cellaring headroom measured in decades.

The low-cropped, event-free 2023 harvest gave exceptional fruit: deep crimson, dark berry aromatics, and a medium-bodied-plus palate of spicy plum and black cherry with gentle meaty, earthy tones and al-dente tannins on a long, streamlined finish. Straight Shiraz from Glenn Barry's small-batch label Tonic Wines, sourced from a vineyard on the Barossa Valley's western ridge (the 'Great West Barossa'). Whole berries macerate for around three weeks before being pressed straight to stainless steel, left on full lees, then simply racked to bottle with no oak anywhere in the process. The result is pure and fruit-driven with a savoury, almost umami edge — red and black berries over a peaty, earthy note — firmly structured with chunky, chewy tannin through a focused finish.
