About
Jacquère from Savoie, near the Swiss border. Dry, light, mineral, unfussy. The wine for fondue, basically.
The domaine sits in Chautagne, a village near Lac du Bourget in the French Alps, under an hour's drive from Geneva. Its owner is Ed Peter, a Swiss wine lover who also owns Yarra Yering in Victoria. That connection is how this Alpine rarity found its way onto Australian shelves.
Everything is estate grown, farmed organically and picked by hand. The juice ferments on wild yeast in stainless steel, kept cool, then rests on fine lees for texture. No oak comes near it.
Expect blossom, citrus and green apple, with the kind of acidity that makes you hungry. Melted cheese is its natural home, so save it for raclette night. Light fish and salads work too.
