About

Pinot noir from the Farr family's Irrewarra vineyard near Beeac in Victoria's Western District, planted on its own roots in 2001 over ancient volcanic soils and limestone. Whole-bunch inclusion and gentle extraction keep it fragrant and savoury: wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry with dried rose petals, warm spice and forest floor, then a silken palate of bright red fruit, vibrant acidity and fine tannins running to a persistent, mineral-laced finish.

Producer note

By Farr was established by Gary Farr in 1994 and is now led by his son Nick, farming organically with the aim of letting the vineyard speak for itself. Irrewarra is their outpost on the volcanic plains about 150 km southwest of Melbourne — six acres of pinot noir and two of chardonnay.
