About
Beechworth has emerged as one of Australia's most exciting Chardonnay regions. Domenica delivers precision over generosity — citrus, white peach, fine oak influence. A more cerebral style for drinkers who've moved past butter and toast.
The vineyard sits 460 metres up on the granite ridge that sweeps south-west of Beechworth. Lean granite soils keep the vines in check, and the elevation keeps nights cool, which is where the tension in the glass comes from. Ten hand-tended, low-cropped acres yield roughly 1,500 cases a year across the whole range.
Peter Graham established Domenica after thirteen years as assistant winemaker at Giaconda, Beechworth's most famous cellar. His stated philosophy is simplicity, pure varietal expression and a clear sense of place. In practice that means small crops, careful hands, and wine that tastes of the hill rather than the winery.
Pour it at 10 to 12 degrees rather than fridge-cold, and give it a minute to open. Roast chicken, grilled fish or a mushroom risotto sit exactly in its lane.
