About
Mount Gambier sits in SA's south-east — a small, cool, volcanic-soil region. Bright, fresh, fine tannin. Pinot from a region most customers won't have heard of.
The fruit is grown at the Coola Road Vineyard, on ground the winemaker describes simply as where limestone meets the ocean.
Chris Catlow grew up in Beechworth and started making wine as a teenager. He studied viticulture and wine science at La Trobe University. He then worked the Mornington Peninsula under Sandro Mosele, a mentor who steered him toward Burgundy's way of reading a site. Catlow founded Sentio in 2013.
Wine Front calls this pinot light and sinewy, built to hold through the back half of the decade rather than drink up fast. Pour it with a slight chill and let the cherry and spice unfold. It sits well next to duck or a plate of charcuterie.
