About
Native Portuguese varieties from Alentejo — Aragonez, Trincadeira, others. Dark fruit, herbs, soft tannin. Portuguese drinking at its honest, food-driven best.
Herdade do Rocim farms about 60 hectares of vines in the lower Alentejo, between the towns of Vidigueira and Cuba. Mariana is the estate's everyday range, made to show the region without the cellar-door price.
The 2023 red leads with Touriga Nacional, with Alicante Bouschet joining the Aragonez and Trincadeira. The grapes are picked by hand, cold-soaked, then fermented in small stainless tanks. Six months in French oak rounds the edges without burying the fruit.
Drink it now, at the table. It suits grilled pork, chouriço, roast vegetables, or anything else you would cook on a Sunday. There is no reason to wait on this one.
