About
Italian-inspired red from Renzaglia in Bathurst. Cherry, herbs, fine tannin — built for the table. The Renzaglia family bring genuine Italian heritage to Central NSW winemaking.
The Renzaglia story runs from Illinois to the O'Connell valley. Guy Renzaglia planted Illinois's first vines back in 1982. His son Mark and wife Sandy later settled outside Bathurst and planted the Bella Luna vineyard, where Mark's son Sam now runs the farming. Compost, cover crops and native fauna do the work chemicals would do elsewhere.
Nuovo is the family's early-drinking red, a five-way blend of Sangiovese, Graciano, Tempranillo, Cabernet and a splash of white Vermentino. It lands at a light 11.8 per cent alcohol. Sour cherry, raspberry and cranberry ride over clove and black pepper, with tannins that stay powdery and gentle.
Give it a light chill and open it young. This is a lunch wine, not a cellar wine.
