About
Sangreal is the Farr family's flagship pinot noir site: a north-facing slope of ironstone-streaked bluestone and limestone planted in 1994. Made as always with 70% whole bunches and 70% new oak — four-day cold soak, natural ferment in a five-tonne oak vat, 18 months in barrel, unfined and unfiltered. The 2024 shows pretty perfume, red cherries and a touch of gamey complexity, then juicy dark berries and barrel spice on a denser, silky tannin frame from the warm season. Approachable now with a decant, and built to cellar.
