About

Grenache from three blocks of Alkina's certified organic and biodynamic farm in the Barossa, and nothing like the old jammy stereotype. The 2024 is light on its feet, layering rose petal, spice and blood orange skin over a palate that bursts with cranberry fruit and red-apple acidity, finished by fine but persistent mouth-coating tannin. Each block was hand-picked, naturally fermented in concrete tulips with 80% whole bunches, spent around 35 days on skins, then matured entirely in concrete — no oak flavour anywhere in it.

Producer note

Alkina is a new story on an old place: a certified organic and biodynamic farm on the traditional lands of the Ngadjuri people, with 43 hectares of Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro and Semillon, the oldest vines dating from the 1950s.
