Cerise Sur Le Gateau is part of Maison Boutinot's Pour Le Vin range, built from grapes grown across the Languedoc and Gascony under the Pays d'Oc IGP. Boutinot has run the range since 1990, and each wine in it is named for a French idiom. Cerise sur le gâteau translates to the icing on the cake, the finishing touch.

The fruit is picked from sun-drenched vineyards in the south of France. It is aimed at the balance between full ripeness and enough freshness, so the wine never tips heavy. That balance is the whole idea behind the range.

Pour it a little below room temperature and put it next to the barbecue or a big bowl of pasta. This is a wine for a weeknight, not for the cellar.
