About
Grandis is Shannon Burgess-Moore's lo-fi label in Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, and this is the first Tempranillo he has made. It was fermented in open fermenters and matured entirely in large-format oak, in a run of 133 cases. Wine-show judges found plum and purple fruit, raspberry and blackberry, a savoury dried-bay-leaf edge, crunchy acidity and firm tannins.
Producer note
Shannon Burgess-Moore runs Grandis as an experimental side project alongside his day job making wine at De Iuliis; he is the son of Ian and Debra Burgess-Moore of Moorebank Wines, and all Grandis tastings are poured at the family's Moorebank cellar door on Palmers Lane.
