Frankland Estate farms in Frankland River, one of the coolest corners of Western Australia's Great Southern. The region sits a long way from any city, with granite soils and a long, mild growing season. Shiraz ripens slowly here and keeps its shape.

Rocky Gully is the estate's entry label. Fruit comes from estate and neighbouring vineyards, ferments in small batches, and matures in older French oak. Older barrels give the wine air without giving it a woody taste.

Open it with steak or anything off the barbecue. It carries enough tannin for charred meat but stays friendly enough for a weeknight pour. Drink it now, no cellar required.
