About
Citrus, white peach and slate glide over a light palate with vibrant acidity and gentle sweetness. Off-dry — noticeable sweetness balanced by high acidity. The Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard is one of the Mosel's most famous sites.
The Sonnenuhr is a wall of blue slate rising almost straight off the Mosel river above the village of Wehlen. It takes its name from the sundial set into the rocks so pickers on the slope could tell the time. The site is precipitously steep and rocky, and every row is worked on foot.
Blue slate is what you taste behind the fruit, the cool wet-stone note Mosel growers prize above everything. The Loosen family has farmed these banks for more than 200 years, and this vineyard sits at the very top of their holdings.
The gentle sweetness and bright acid make this the bottle for spice. Thai, Sichuan or a laksa all click with it. Serve it cold, and enjoy how easily a second glass fits into a long lunch.
