Delamere was planted in 1981, one of the pioneer vineyards of the Pipers River district in Tasmania's north. The site grows only two grapes, pinot noir and chardonnay, on rich ironstone soils.
The vineyard is close-planted and tended in detail, and the whole operation stays family owned. Sparkling leads the range, with rosé, chardonnay and pinot noir alongside. A vintage-dated blanc de blancs like this is the house at full stretch: one grape, one site, one season.
Open it as the first bottle of a good evening. The acid line loves oysters, sashimi and anything raw from the sea. It also holds enough depth to drink on its own while dinner cooks.
