About
Cantina Calcagno works bush vines at Passopisciaro on the northern slope of Mount Etna. This is 80% Nerello Mascalese with 20% Nerello Cappuccio from the Arcuria and Feudo di Mezzo contrade, fermented in temperature-controlled steel with a short spell in seasoned barrels before it finishes in tank. Ruby in the glass, with fresh red fruit on the nose, a tannic frame and a mineral undertone through the finish.
Producer note
The winery sits at Passopisciaro on Etna's north side, on lava-derived sandy, stony soil at around 650 metres, with vines trained as alberello bush vines.
