About
Old-vine Carignano-led blend from Sardinia. Dark fruit, structure, length. Made under the same winemaking hands behind Sassicaia — serious wine for the price.
Agricola Punica joins two famous names, Tenuta San Guido from Bolgheri and Cantina Santadi in Sardinia. Winemaker Sebastiano Rosa and Giacomo Tachis helped found the project in Sulcis, in the island's south-west.
Montessu is the estate's second wine. Carignano leads the blend, joined by Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Grapes are picked by hand and the wine matures for about a year in French oak barrels.
It drinks with Sardinian character and international polish. Pour it with roast lamb, game or a hard aged cheese, and give it half an hour in a decanter first.
Producer note
Agricola Punica is a Sardinian project involving Sebastiano Rosa (Sassicaia winemaker). Serious wine credentials at an accessible price.
