About
Non-vintage Brut Réserve, a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier drawn from more than 40 vineyards and blended across four vintages. Its Chardonnay proportion is unusually high for a house Brut, which independent reviewers credit for giving it more freshness and elegance than the typical Pinot-heavy non-vintage style. Fermented in stainless steel, then finished with reserve wines folded in for consistency between releases. Professional tasting notes describe green apple, grapefruit and toasted brioche on the nose, with crushed raspberry and apple blossom on the palate, a fine persistent mousse and a clean, structured finish.
Producer note
Taittinger traces its roots to 1734 and is one of the few remaining family-owned Champagne houses — sold to the American Starwood Hotel Group in 2005, then bought back by the Taittinger family a year later. It is one of only five Champagne houses to age its wines in the Crayères of Reims, chalk quarries originally dug by the Romans.
