About
Fresh, fruit-driven, soft tannin. Spring Seed is the second label of one of McLaren Vale's pioneer organic estates.
The Bosworth family grows this fruit near Willunga, at the southern end of McLaren Vale. The vines are certified organic and have been farmed that way for decades, so the wine starts clean in the ground.
The name comes from the label art, which borrows from flower seed packets printed around the turn of last century. Every wine in the Spring Seed range wears a flower, and Cockscomb is the Cabernet's.
In the glass it leans on blackberry and plum with a run of spice behind. The tannin stays quiet, which makes it a wine for the table, not the rack. Pour it with a barbecue, a bowl of pasta or a cheese board, and drink it young.
Producer note
Spring Seed is the second label of Battle of Bosworth, McLaren Vale's longest-established certified-organic estate.
