About

Cabernet Sauvignon from Fraser Gallop's estate vineyard at Wilyabrup in Margaret River, blended Bordeaux-fashion with small parcels of Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Dark fruits on the nose lift with bay leaf and a distinct oyster-shell character; the palate is medium-bodied with fine, sinewy, minerally tannins and integrated oak. Ray Jordan rated the 2022 at 95 points with cellaring potential of a dozen years.

94% Cabernet Franc with 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from Bruce Dukes' finest parcel in Wilyabrup, grown on gravel loam. Fourteen months in 500-litre French oak puncheons, around 40% new, built around what Dukes calls the tannins-times-perfume balance. Wild blueberry, violet, dark chocolate and damson plum on the nose; dark cherry, chalk, cured meats and dried herbs across a full-bodied palate with finely integrated tannin. Three critics scored the 2021 at 95 points.
