About
Distilled and aged entirely in Barbados, no additives. Deep, structured, complex — oak, dried fruit, real persistence. Foursquare are one of the benchmark distilleries for modern, pure rum.
Foursquare is a family distillery in the parish of St Philip, Barbados. Richard Seale runs it, and the Seale family has made rum on the island for generations.
The 2011 on the label is the year the spirit ran off the stills. Foursquare distils from molasses on two stills, a double-retort pot still and a twin-column still, and marries the two spirits. That combination from a single distillery is what the term 'single blended rum' means. The casks are ex-bourbon, and the ageing happens on site in Barbados.
Pour it neat and give it ten minutes in the glass before judging it. This is a sipping rum for whisky drinkers as much as for rum lovers.
