About

A skin contact white made with Box Grove, blending Vermentino, Garganega, Riesling and Arinto. Three weeks on skins gives it texture, an oxidative edge and a large floral lift. Frangipani and sweet pea on the nose, then lychee, guava and ripe peach with a saline finish.

The Riesling is grown by Fin on their own ten acres at Dixons Creek in the Yarra Valley. The rest comes from Sarah at Box Grove, up at Tabilk on the Goulburn. Vermentino, Garganega and Arinto are southern European whites, and they carry the tropical end of this bottle.

Three weeks on skins is a long soak for a white. It builds the texture, brings the oxidative character, and pushes the perfume well past anything a pressed white would give. The ferment runs wild, the wine is neither fined nor filtered, and the sulfur addition stays small.

This is a bottle for the table rather than a spritz glass. The producer points to grilled sardines with lemon, garlicky prawns, a roast pumpkin salad with feta, or a washed rind cheese.

Producer note

Fin Wines works out of Dixons Creek in the Yarra Valley, and this bottle is a joint effort with Sarah at Box Grove near Nagambie, who grows most of the fruit in it.
