About

A 100% Shiraz from Quilty & Gransden's Orange, NSW range. Destemmed fruit is fermented warm with twice-daily maceration of the skins for colour and flavour, then several parcels are blended together and given a light stint in French oak. The result is deep red with purple edges, lifted aromas of ripe plum and dark berry fruit, and a soft, velvety palate carrying plum and a distinct white-pepper note through to a fruit-forward, easy-drinking finish.

Wangolina

An even 50/50 Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Wangolina's Mount Benson vineyard on the Limestone Coast, with a Padthaway contribution. Machine-harvested and fermented separately in open-top fermenters with hand-plunging, then aged 11 months across new and conditioned French hogsheads before blending. Crunchy red plum, forest fruit and dark bramble from the Shiraz meet mint, cassis and tobacco leaf structure from the Cabernet, finishing on fresh cedar and brown spice — balanced and easy-drinking rather than heavy.

Estate Shiraz from the Kenton Valley vineyard, planted in 1998 with cuttings taken from now ninety-year-old vines at Springton, drawing on three separate parcels for complexity. Matured eighteen months in a mix of older French oak hogsheads. Vibrant ripe blackberries, plums and blueberries layered with warming spice, dark chocolate, nutmeg and coffee, finishing with a subtle, refreshing lift of acidity. Light-to-medium-bodied for Shiraz — drink now or cellar up to ten years.

Shiraz from Kaesler estate vines between 35 and 47 years old, fermented for a week and then rested mostly in older French oak so the fruit leads. Vibrant fruits of the forest and cassis on the nose with hints of spice box, then a supple, elegant palate of blackberry, blueberry and black cherry threaded with redcurrant and raspberry over soft, silken tannins. Drink now or hold four to five years.

95% Cabernet Sauvignon framed by 4% Malbec and 1% Merlot, each variety matured separately for ten months in seasoned 225-litre French oak — old barrels chosen to soften the wine without adding oak tannin, keeping the fruit up front. Blackcurrant, blueberry and bay leaf lead, with dark cherry, roasted spice and powdery tannins behind. The Discovery range is Bruce Dukes' entry tier: a snapshot of classic Margaret River style built for easy drinking, and it landed 92 points from James Suckling.
